Overview
New generation of Raspberry Pi 5 beyonds the pinnacle of the Raspberry Pi 4, this is the latest addition to the Raspberry Pi family of computers. The new CPU is 2-3 times more powerful, the GPU has been significantly upgraded, and the camera, display, and USB interfaces have all been improved. The interface innovation is made possible by Raspberry Pi's own RP1 I/O control chip, the first time a Raspberry Pi chip has been used in a flagship product !Due to popular demand, Raspberry Pi 5 includes two new features to help you trace sales (and potential returns) of the product:
1) Each board will include a marking on the upper side of the PCB to identify what memory density is fitted to a specific board (visible in the graphic above).
2) All boards carry a unique serial number on the PCB and the individual carton so you can trace what actual boards have been shipped to a specific customer. This, of course, requires you to record serial numbers during your outbound shipping process. Full shippers of 180 boards also carry an external barcode to record the contents of each shipper.

The anatomy of Raspberry Pi 5
Accessories - Raspberry Pi 5 case
The new case is a refinement of the Raspberry Pi 4 case, with improved thermal features to support the higher peak power consumption of Raspberry Pi 5. lt integrates a variable-speed fan, powered and controlled from a dedicated connector on the Raspberry Pi 5 PCB.
The case is available in our signature red/white colour scheme at launch, with black/grey to follow.
Accessories - 27W USB-C PD Power Supply
The new 27W USB-C PD (Power Delivery) Power Supply will deliver a maximum of 5.1V, 5A enabling the Raspberry Pi 5 to power a wider range of peripherals. The total power drawn from the four USB ports on Raspberry Pi 5 is limited by default to a nominal 600mA; this limit is automatically increased to a nominal 1.6A when the USB-C PD Power Supply is detected.
The USB-C PD Power Supply is also capable of delivering 3A @ 9V, 2.25A @ 12V, and 1.8A @ 15V to PD-compatible products, making it a good cost-effective power supply for many general-purpose, non-Raspberry Pi use cases.
Accessories - Active cooler
The Active Cooler provides an alternative cooling solution for users who wish to use their Raspberry Pi 5 under sustained heavy load without a case.It combines a large metal heatsink with a variable-speed blower, again powered and controlled via the fan connector, and attaches to the Raspberry Pi 5 PCB via sprung pins into a pair of mounting holes.
Accessories - RTC battery
The power-management IC used on Raspberry Pi 5 integrates a real-timeclock, and charging circuitry for a button cell which can power the clock while main power is disconnected.
We offer a Panasonic ML-2020 Lithium Manganese Dioxide battery, with a two-pin plug suitable for connection to the battery connector on the Raspberry Pi 5 PCB, and double-sided adhesive pad to attach it to the inside of a case or another convenient location.
Accessories - Camera and display adapter cables
Raspberry Pi 5 provides two four-lane MIPI connectors, each of which can support either a camera or a display. These connectors use the same 22-way, 0.5mm-pitch "mini" FPC format as the Compute Module Development Kit, and require adapter cables to connect to the 15-way, 1mm-pitch "standard" format connectors on our current camera and display products.
We offer mini-to-standard adapter cables for cameras and displays in 200mm, 300mm and 500mm lengths.
Note that a camera cable should not be used with a display, and vice versa.
